Local pet journal

Mimi needs no account. Pet profiles, text, dates, places, moods, care events, weight and selected photos and videos are stored in private app storage. There is no developer journal server, advertising, tracking or analytics SDK.

Media and system services

The system document picker gives Mimi only the media you select. Imports copy originals without scanning your whole gallery. Dates and coordinates in selected photos’ EXIF may populate records. Editing a record’s place does not strip metadata from the original.

Photos and videos are captured by an external camera app using a temporary file grant. Mimi requests no device location, whole-gallery or direct recording permission and has no INTERNET permission. This Android version has no speech transcription, automatic sync or AI. Camera, keyboard and document services follow their own settings and policies.

Full backups and copies

You choose a folder in a system document provider to export a full backup containing journal.json and an originals directory. Restore reads and validates a chosen backup folder in temporary app storage, then merges and skips duplicate media. Backups are not encrypted and may include location metadata in originals.

Your chosen document provider may upload or sync selected media or backups to its cloud. Android system backup is allowed by this app’s configuration; actual backup behavior depends on your device and system settings. The developer does not receive those copies and cannot remotely recover your journal.

Deletion and sharing

Deleting a journal entry does not delete gallery originals or exported backups. Sharing an original sends a file copy, including its metadata, to the app you choose. Clearing app data or uninstalling may remove the local journal. Back up first and manage gallery, system backup, cloud-drive and shared copies separately.

We update this policy when features or data handling change. New uses of data will be explained before you use the relevant feature.
