Privacy policy
Your local journal
Mimi is a local pet journal with no account registration. We don't operate a server to receive your journal, or include ads, tracking or third-party analytics SDKs.
What you save
The photos and videos you select or capture, along with dates, places, notes, moods, care events, weights and your pet profile, are stored in the app on your device to display and organize your journal. Dates and coordinates may come from the selected media's metadata. You can change dates and edit or remove locations.
The photo picker gives Mimi only the media you select. Photos and videos are copied into Mimi. Deleting a record in Mimi doesn't delete the original in your photo library. Mimi doesn't scan your entire library automatically.
Editing a place or removing journal coordinates does not guarantee removal of location metadata from the original media.
Camera, microphone and speech
The camera is used to take photos and videos. The microphone is used for video audio and dictation. In-app dictation runs only when the system supports on-device speech recognition. Audio isn't saved as a separate file; recognized text is saved in your note. Keyboard dictation is managed by your keyboard and system settings.
You can revoke camera, microphone, speech recognition or photo access in iOS Settings. If you deny optional permissions, you can still view existing records and type notes.
Apple services and backups
When you open a map or search for a place, Apple Maps processes map areas and search requests online. Mimi doesn't request your device's location. The system photo picker may download selected originals from iCloud. These services are subject to Apple's privacy policy.
Mimi doesn't provide automatic cross-device sync. iOS device backups may include local app data. Backups you export include all originals and records. If you save them to iCloud Drive or another service, that provider manages the data. Keep your backups safe.
Retention and deletion
Records remain until you delete them. You can delete a record from its detail view. Deleting the app in Settings removes its local data; offloading the app keeps that data. Exported backups, device backups and originals in your photo library must be managed or deleted separately where they are stored.
The developer can't remotely view, restore or delete your journal. This policy will change as features change. New uses of data will be explained before you use the relevant feature.
Policy updates
We update this policy when features or data handling change. New uses of data will be explained before you use the relevant feature.
