Privacy policy
Your local journal
Mimi is a local photo and video journal for one pet. No account is required. This version has no developer server receiving journals and includes no advertising, tracking or third-party analytics SDK.
Media and records
Photos and videos that you select or capture, including metadata retained in the originals, are copied into the app's private storage. Dates, notes, places, moods, care events, weights and your pet's name, birthday and homecoming date are also stored locally to organize and display the journal. Mimi tries to read capture dates; you can correct missing dates. Originals may contain location or other information. Editing a journal place or removing a separate coordinate does not guarantee removal of metadata embedded in an original.
System permissions
The system photo picker supplies the items you select. Mimi does not request full-library access or device location. Capture uses the system camera interface, which manages its permissions and choices. You can cancel and manage relevant permissions in system settings. The system's denial behavior depends on the device; typing and browsing saved records do not require a new capture.
Offline features and system services
This version has no in-app dictation, map search, automatic cross-device sync or AI service. Your keyboard, system cloud-photo service and device backups are managed by their respective providers. Mimi does not provide veterinary diagnosis or treatment advice.
Full backups
Backup export and restore occur only when you initiate them. On HarmonyOS phones, the system file picker saves or selects one .mimibackup.zip file containing all original media and journal text. Backups are not encrypted. Originals may retain location or other metadata; share backups only with people or services you trust.
Mimi copies and validates files in a private temporary directory and removes those temporary files when the operation ends. The backup file you save and local records merged during restoration are retained. Cancelling file selection or failing backup validation does not merge records; existing journal data is retained.
Mimi does not automatically sync across devices. If you choose a cloud drive or another external file provider, that service may store or sync the backup under its own policy. The developer does not receive the backup or original media. Manage or delete exported files, service copies and device backups in their respective locations.
Retention and deletion
Records remain until you delete them. Deleting a record in Mimi does not delete its original from the system photo library. Uninstalling may remove local app data; export a backup first. Exported copies, system backups and source photos must be managed separately. The developer cannot remotely view, delete or recover your local journal.
Policy updates
We update this policy when features or data handling change. New uses of data will be explained before you use the relevant feature.
